An Autumn To Remember

Fall in the Northeast is truely amazing. We'll be back west next year by this time, so we are trying to take full advantage of the time we have left here. This last weekend found us camping in The Finger Lakes Region- a bit south of us. Die hard campers may argue that because we stayed in a structure with four walls and a roof, we were not really camping. We still had to take all our own blankets, pillows, water, utinsils, blah, blah, blah. We were camping! The sun was shining, the colors were astounding, and my boys (all three of them) were in a little bit of heaven. It was a great weekend.
The view out our kitchen window before we left home

The cabins around our little cabin Our cabin (basically four walls, a roof, and a floor) The view out the front of our cabin- Cayuga Lake Taughannock Falls- Highest free falling waterfall in the eastern U.S.A lovely walk along the very dried up river lead us to the base of the Falls. The boys loved playing in the leaves and walking up the dry river bed. Hunter was very brave and attempted to cross the river on his own. I fully expected him to tip over, but his balance was better than the tippy rocks. He didn't even get wet.Hot dogs and s'mores are the extent of my campfire cooking experience, so when I actually succeeded in pancakes, I was pretty proud of myself. Watkins Glen. Cayuga Lake

I'm so thankful that we had such beautiful weather for our fall camping trip. I love the fall colors and I love warm sunshine, so it was the best of both worlds for me.

I am not, I repeat not, a camper. I appreciate nature as much as the next girl, but I don't want to SLEEP (toss and turn) in it! I AM, however, all about cabins and/or hotels. This last summer we stayed in cabins (just four walls, roof, and floor types), and it made it bearable. Someday I want to join my parents for a fall tour of the N.E. (they are church history tour guides) - it looks splendid!

I'm with you on the camping thing. A cabin works great for me. That area is just gorgeous. How fun to make great memories with your boys. They're old enough, they'll remember it. It sounds like you guys are doing great.

Wow, what a fun trip! Where were you guys at again? I thought you said the northwest. I would love to go there. Good job on the pancakes! I attempted spagetti once, ya NEVER again! It was so gross!

What an amazing trip, that is some camping I would definitely be up for. I have heard the Northeast is amazing in the fall, and these pictures are beautiful.

I am glad you had such a good time and you guys have really taken advantage of so many great trips back there, you won't regret it!

Those pictures from your camping trip are absolutely gorgeous. What I wouldn't give to spend some time in the Northeast during the fall. I am sure the pictures don't do the scenery justice, but they are gorgeous still the same. Looks like you had lots of fun.
