Spring Cleaning

I am the worst at getting my hair cut; I love it, but never do it. My last decent hair cut was in May of 2006. It was way past time; I was living in a pony tail 24/7. One of Jordan's fellow residents did all the research and found me a great salon where a couple of weeks ago I had my hair chemically straightened (like a reverse perm) and cut. I am super excited to say that I am no longer a white girl with an afro.

Before I scrolled down, I thought those first pictures were the "after" pictures...so those last two pictures caught me WAY off guard! SOOOO cute! I wish I could find something to do with my hair - I feel like it doesn't belong to me, and doesn't portray my personal style to the full extent that I would like it to. I would love a really modern, straight look, but my hair type WILL NOT conform to that sort of standard. So, guess I'll be happy that at least someone out there gets to have gorgeous hair - so jealous!

Andrea- my hair type doesn't conform either; that's why I had it straightened.

SO CUTE! I love it! Is it a lot of work - I'm not so good at anything that requires lots of upkeep! :)

wow..you look beautiful, I have some of the similar afro-ness going..waves that won't quit!! I have considered chemical straightening...but heard that I couldn't do highlights for a few years, and that would not be cute on me...but you are looking fab!

I LOVE it! I too am also horrible at getting my hair done-it's so time consuming! You look gorgeous-way to go!

Kara! You look great!! I too thought the first ones were the after, so the real after looks amazing! I didn't realize your hair was curly I guess! Is it the humidity that causes it? :) Anyway, you look amazing!

Oh my goodness Kara we have the same hair! Or should I say we "had" the same hair because yours now looks like the hair I have always dreamed of. I'm curious how long it lasts? Anyway, I have had stylists convinced there is some African-American heritage in me because of my hair texture/type. I don't think having parents born in South Africa counts for that of course :) Well, it looks amazing. Of course I always thought you were gorgeous before anyway. You have always reminded me of singer Sarah Brightman.

I'm diggin' the fro, Kara! That's awesome. Andrea Hansen once had a stylist tell her here hair was "kinky" and had the same thoughts as Cailean's stylist. Your's looks so good. I love your before and afters. Not only is your hair "bad" in the before but so is the lighting and the distracting background. Then the afters = flattering lighting and simple yet elegent background (I love wood!) Excellent job! And I love the hair color. I am so glad you are a brunette!

Wow! You look great, Kara. Sorry, I don't keep up on your blog--I promise I'll be better. As long as you always have some big reveal like this one when I check in. Just kidding, of course.
